Course Content
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to respond to fire emergencies in your workplace and use basic fire-fighting skills to extinguish or contain a small fire. It includes:
+ Location of emergency resources in the work area
+ Checking serviceability of fire response equipment
+ Characteristics of fire and fuel types
+ Types of fire extinguishers
+ Identification and assessment of an emergency and initial response
+ Safe use of extinguishers to contain small fires in the workplace
+ Documentation and reporting of incidents according to workplace procedures
Prerequisites
It is recommended that participants have numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 2. Participants will also need the ability to meet the physical demands of the practical skills required for this training.
Assessment Methods
Progressive assessment throughout the course,including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to required knowledge.
